Problem analysis
I thought I solved my problem but my problem is still there!
Often projects are about solving a problem. However, you must be sure that what you consider to be the problem is indeed the problem. You have to avoid solving the symptoms of the problem instead of the basic cause. That is why problem analysis is so important. Scientegia Solutions can assist you in executing a thorough problem analysis.
Donor identification
Everybody says my project is a good project! Then why does this donor not want to fund it?
Your NGO might be lacking funding to address the identified problem. Often funding is needed for implementing a project. Sometimes you just need money to keep the organization going. Finding donor funding for your NGO can be quite challenging, however. Many donors exist but requirements and formats vary a lot. Donors often also have preferences and criteria when considering approving a funding request. Scientegia Solutions can assist you in finding the most suitable donor for your needs.
Compilation financing proposals including EU financing proposals
I talk a lot about my project and everybody understands what I am saying. But now I have to write it down and I have no clue how to do it!
Writing a financing proposal is time consuming. You are probably already very busy with the day-to-day business of your NGO. You are not exactly looking for more work to do. Scientegia Solutions however can write the financing proposal for you, of course based on your ideas and considerations. This enables you to focus on your core tasks. We also write financing proposals for the European Union. Project proposals submitted to the EU must meet many criteria. Scientegia Solutions has in-depth knowledge of EU procedures and formats.
Project management or interim management
I started implementing my project and everything went very well. Hooray! But then my manager left!
You might want to outsource the execution of your project. We have the experience and knowledge to support you in this respect. For project implementation PM2 is used. PM2 is a Project Management Methodology developed by the European Commission. Its purpose is to enable Project Managers (PMs) to deliver solutions and benefits to their organizations by effectively managing the entire lifecycle of their project.
Furthermore, you might need an interim manager because your director or a department head unexpectedly left, and there is insufficient time to find a new one. Scientegia Solutions could provide you temporarily with a new manager, so you have ample space for a thorough recruitment process to find your new director or department head. Intimately linked to project management is identifying or designing the project documentation. We can assist you in this as well.
Project evaluation
I think my project delivered the right results. But sometimes I am not completely sure it did!
After a project has been implemented you want to know whether it has been successful and met its aims. At some point in time, you may like to evaluate the project. Project evaluation is not only about verification whether the change resulting from the project has been successful. It is also a learning experience. Learning from your project is important for implementing a new project. Remember the cycle in PCM. You don’t want to repeat mistakes or inefficiencies but otherwise you want to repeat what worked well. It is important that an evaluation is done by an independent party that has not been involved in the project. Scientegia Solutions can do project evaluations for you.
Compilation government policy papers
As a government officer I have to appraise project proposals and submit them to a donor. But now the donor asks me if this is what the government wants!
Governance is based on policies. Policies are intended to guide developments in government areas. In other words, policies direct desired change or development in those areas. However, policies are not always in place. This may hinder decision making at various government levels. A policy is also often required by donors before considering project funding. Policies must be written, adopted, implemented, and eventually evaluated. We can assist in writing policies.
Possible steps in policy writing are:
- Desk research of available documentation
- Formulate the purpose of the policy for a particular government area
- Describe the desired change or desired development
- Undertake a stakeholder analysis and consultation to determine public support for the desired change or desired development and gather relevant information
- Adapt, if necessary, the policy based on the outcome of the stakeholder analysis, consultation and additional information
- Produce the policy document
